FAQs

A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by a blow to the head, which can occur due to a motor vehicle accident, fall, or sports injury.

Symptoms of a concussion include:

  • Headache and/or pressure in the head
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Confusion
  • Memory or concentration problems
  • Blurred vision
  • Imbalance and dizziness
  • Heightened sensitivity to light and noise
  • Cognitive fatigue

A post-concussion treatment plan is individualized and based on factors identified during the patient’s assessment. Physical therapy can play a vital role in helping patients treat symptoms of pain and headaches, as well as improve dizziness and balance. After symptoms improve, treatment can include physical training to build the patient back up to pre-concussion activity levels.
