Finding My Foundation: Starting My OT Career at Sol

Taking the Leap from Student to Clinician

Starting my career as a new graduate in occupational therapy, I wasn’t sure what to expect when transitioning from student to clinician. When I accepted my job at Sol, I still felt both excited and nervous about the unknowns ahead. Now, I can confidently say it has been one of the best decisions I could have made for my career.

Finding the Mentorship I Was Looking For

When I was searching for my first OT job, mentorship was my number one priority. I knew I wanted to specialize in hand therapy and begin working toward my certification right away, but I also knew that starting in such a specialized area requires strong support and guidance. That is exactly what I found at Sol PT. From the very beginning, the mentorship here has exceeded my expectations. I am surrounded by experienced CHTs, OTs, and PTs, who generously share their knowledge and provide hands-on guidance. The support does not just come from leadership, because every member of the team is willing to help. That culture of encouragement has made all the difference in my growth as a clinician and has allowed me to confidently begin my journey toward certification in hand therapy as a new graduate.

A Team That Truly Works Together

The work environment is another aspect that makes Sol PT stand out. From day one, I felt welcomed into a truly collaborative team. Everyone, from the front office staff to the techs to the therapists, works together to provide the best possible care. The clinic is full of energy, but it is the kind of positive energy that motivates you to show up every day. No one is ever too busy to check in, answer questions, or offer advice, which makes it clear that we are all invested in one another’s success.

Learning Without Feeling Overwhelmed

As a new graduate, I was concerned about managing a heavy caseload, but Sol has created a balance that allows me to learn and grow without feeling overwhelmed. The caseload is diverse and challenging, yet designed in a way that ensures patients receive quality, individualized care. I am able to work with a wide variety of patients while still having the time and space to provide the focused care each one deserves.

More Time for Patients, More Room to Grow

One of the features that sets Sol PT apart is the 45-minute appointment model. This structure allows me to truly get to know my patients, understand their needs, and tailor treatment plans accordingly. The extra time creates opportunities for meaningful connections, hands-on care, and real-time adjustments that lead to better outcomes. It has also accelerated my growth as a clinician, as I am able to see how small changes can make a significant difference.

A Culture of Continuous Learning

What makes Sol PT even more unique is the culture of continual learning. The mentorship is invaluable, but the day-to-day collaboration is just as impactful. Every team member brings something different to the table, and there is constant sharing of ideas, techniques, and perspectives. This emphasis on learning from one another has helped me progress much faster than I anticipated.

Growing a Career, Not Just Starting One

When I began my career, I wanted more than just a first job as an OT. I was looking for a place where I could grow long-term, and Sol PT has provided that. Sol has given me the mentorship, resources, and support to make pursuing hand therapy as a specialty from the very start of my career possible. Whether it is continuing toward certification, taking on additional responsibilities, or mentoring new graduates in the future, I feel confident that I am in the right place to achieve those goals.

Grateful to Start My Career at Sol

Being a new graduate will always come with challenges, but Sol has made my transition into practice not only smoother, but also incredibly rewarding. The mentorship, supportive environment, manageable caseload, culture of learning, and 45-minute appointments have created the ideal setting for me to grow. I am so grateful to have started my career here, and I would highly recommend Sol to any new graduate who is looking for a place to feel supported, valued, and inspired to provide the best patient care possible.
